| How do you feel these dogs have adapted to the UK? |
Assam has settled in very well. She has such a laid back temperament that it has been so easy to introduce her to the other members of our Kennel. I think the main obstacle that Assam has had to cope with is the change in distance. She has been used to running mid distance in Europe she is merely warming up in this country before she realises its all over! |
| What made you want to import this dog? |
Steven met Monique at the Dryland World Championships in Italy in 2002. When she let us know that Assam was for sale we jumped at the chance because she was from excellent lines (Leegard/Phillipe) and was a proven Gee/Haw leader just what we needed at the time. |
| How did you import this dog? |
It was fairly easy to bring Assam over as she was in France. Monique arranged the paperwork to bring Assam through using the pet passport Scheme. Steven went over the channel tunnel and collected her at Calais. |
| Any other comments to add? (Go on tell us a funny story!) |
When we first run Assam up lead we thought it strange that when we called Haw she would start to take a Gee before eventually, at the last moment, take the Haw! Until we realised that she was taking the corners extra wide as she previously had to accommodate her 18 or so team mates behind! Ahw bless! She is also quite small and her nickname in the kennel is 'the Pocket Rocket'! |
| Main achievements for this dog/s so far? |
Assam is running lead and in training she will lead a 12-dog team with real confidence. |
