How do you feel these dogs have adapted to the UK?

Very well. Their short coats are the main advantage, in Scotland even in the summer it is rarely too hot to work them. Huckle came from an 8 dog team so is used to going that bit further, 12 miles, 3.5 - 5 miles is far too short for some of the hounds. They have adapted their speed well going on dirt, although Scandinavians start their training on dirt too.

What made you want to import this dog?

I had seen him in training in Norway when he belonged to Roland Kotter and he impressed me tremendously. When I found out he was for sale there was no question, I was straight out there. He is a very gentle dog, no fussing, just gets on with the job everytime.

How did you import this dog?

From Germany through the Pets Scheme, he already had rabies and blood tests so it was a simple procedure which took a weekend road trip to Roland house.

Any other comments to add? (Go on tell us a funny story!)

He is stubbon and sometimes decides which turn he wants to take not which turn he is told to take. He’s hung like a donkey as well.

Main achievements for this dog/s so far?
